In an effort to solace and also to split the Israeli settlers facing evacuation this summer from the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met with some of their representatives on Tuesday evening to try to persuade them to leave their homes peacefully. Mr. Sharon has won final political approval to begin removing the nearly 9,000 Jewish settlers from Gaza in late July, but many have insisted that they will have to be dragged from their houses, and others promise active resistance to Israeli police officers and soldiers.Full Story
