Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has appealed to the Irish Republican Army (IRA) to embrace a political solution, not armed struggle, to fulfil republican aims of ending British rule in Northern Ireland. “In the past I have defended the right of the IRA to engage in armed struggle.
