The head of Indonesia’s largest Muslim group met Thai leaders Monday at the start of a six-day visit both sides hope will help end violence in Thailand’s Muslim south where more than 600 people have been killed in 15 months. Hasyim Muzadi, head of the moderate, 40-million member Nadhlatul Ulama met Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and King Bhumibol Adulyadej to discuss how to end the unrest in the largely Malay-speaking region.
