One of the 10 men placed under the British government’s new partial house arrest scheme for suspected terrorists was admitted to hospital at the weekend after taking an overdose of pills, a court heard yesterday. Mahmoud Abu Rideh, a Jordanian-born Palestinian, was one of 17 foreign terrorism suspects held by Britain without trial for several years under emergency post-September 11, 2001, laws that expired earlier this month after being ruled unlawful by judges.
