In police-speak, it’s an “active shooter” situation. For teachers, students and parents, it’s the ultimate nightmare: a Columbine-style assault on a school by a heavily armed gunman. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Saugerties police and members of a multiagency response team will use Saugerties High School as a training ground where police and school administrators alike can practice their response to an attack. The drill is being held during spring break, when classes are not in session at the junior-senior high school complex on Washington Avenue Extension. “Fire departments have been carrying out training at schools and malls and places like that for years,” said Lt.
