The first suspect has been named in the roadside assassination attempt on Russia’s top energy official Anatoly Chubais. Prosecutors detained Vladimir Kvachkov, a retired colonel of the General Staff. Kvachkov is Chubais’ neighbour, his country house is situated in the village of Zhavoronki, near Moscow, where unknown gunmen opened fire at the car of the RAO UES head on Thursday morning as he was heading to work. The colonel was detained for 48 hours on suspicion of being involved in the attack. He denied any wrongdoing, the Kommersant daily reported on Friday. Full Story
