The Iraqi police carried out a series of aggressive raids south of Baghdad over the weekend, detaining dozens of people suspected of being insurgents in an effort to find those responsible for a suicide bombing in Hilla last Monday, police officials said Sunday. The raids came after several days of demonstrations in Hilla, 60 miles south of Baghdad, with hundreds of residents crowding the streets to demand better protection, as well as punishment for those who carried out the attacks.
