The Pine Bluff Arsenal conducted an emergency preparedness drill Wednesday to test plans and response personnel at the emergency operations center. Arsenal sirens were sounded, but not the community sirens. However, off-post emergency officials were aware of the exercise, a spokeswoman said. A false alarm on Jan. 21 triggered sirens on the Arsenal grounds, which drew sharp criticism from area residents. The accidental activation of the emergency warning sirens was described as the result of human error. Someone at the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management accidentally pushed the wrong button, causing sirens to sound at the Arsenal. Full Story
