Nepali police arrested a leading human rights campaigner on Wednesday, a day before he was due to lead the first demonstration against King Gyanendra since the monarch seized power last week. Policemen in plainclothes took away Krishna Pahadi, the founding chairman of the Human Rights and Peace Society that had planned a rally aimed at sparking off a nationwide campaign against the king, the group said in a statement.
