The government of the western Indian state of Goa has been sacked by the governor soon after it won a controversial confidence vote. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party won the vote by a majority of just one. The main opposition Congress party said the speaker had sided with the BJP by disqualifying an independent lawmaker. Congress officials met the governor who then dismissed the state government. The decision outraged the BJP, which called it a “murder of democracy”. Full Story
