Bombs were hurled at the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel compound and the Bangla Academy premises in the city Monday evening, hours after the end of 3-day long opposition sponsored hartal (general strike), sources said. Dhaka Sheraton hotel has been reserved to house the heads of states and governments of South Asian Nations’ during the ensuing SAARC summit to be held on February 6 and 7. Bangla Academy is the venue of the month long Ekushey Book Fair which the Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to inaugurate today (Tuesday). In another incident, two bombs were hurled near the house of Prime Minister’s political adviser Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury in Dhanmondi yesterday afternoon.
