Authorities in Guatemala, which was shaken seven years ago by the murder of a bishop who was also a human rights activist, were investigating on Monday allegations that a $50,000 “contract” was put out for the slaying of another prominent Roman Catholic prelate. An unknown group offered a former member of the now-defunct presidential security corps the sum for killing Bishop Alvaro Ramazzini, the press reported Sunday.
