Mexico Says It Dealing with U.S. Border Violence
Mexico sought to play down a U.S. travel alert for Americans visiting the Mexican side of the border and said any violence was contained to drugs gangs and that authorities were fighting to curb it. A State Department alert Wednesday warned travelers of an escalation of fighting among drug cartels along Mexico’s northern border. After speaking to U.S. officials, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Ernesto Derbez told Mexican television it was a disgrace that there was a perception of violence in northern Mexico and added that it was “a worry for Mexico, not the United States.”Full Story
