Rebel leader sent home by U.S. aims for political office
Butteur Métayer, the Haitian rebel leader who helped oust former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, has been deported from Miami to Haiti and says he plans to run for political office during the next election. ”I will be a candidate,” Métayer told The Herald in a telephone interview Monday, two days after arriving back in Haiti following his deportation from the United States. “I want to bring peace to Haiti so that all of the Haitians abroad can come back home.” Full Story
