Talks aimed at bringing together the warring parties in the conflict over the tsunami-hit Aceh province of Indonesia are to be held in Finland at the end of the week, a Finnish NGO said. Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), which specialises in the resolution of conflicts, said in a statement it was “engaged in preparations to re-establish dialogue between the government of Indonesia and the GAM (the Free Aceh Movement)”. Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja later confirmed the meeting was to go ahead in a statement to Finnish news agency FNB. “The Finnish government supports these efforts and hopes that negotiations will lead to rapid results,” Tuomioja said.
