U.S. emergency services personnel to learn

A delegation of 17 U.S. law enforcement, fire and medical emergency personnel arrived in Jerusalem on Wednesday, January 19, at the start of a seven−day visit aimed at learning from Israel’s experience in dealing with security and attacks with mass casualties. Inspired by the needs arising after the 9/11 attacks, the aim of the visit is to study safety and security at airports and shipping ports and learn how the emergency services in Israel cope with such incidents. On Thursday, the delegates primarily from Long Beach, CA, were guests of the Israel Navy, visited the Haifa Port, and were briefed on security measures. Prevention of terrorism, however, is only one aspect of study for the delegation. Full Story
