Guards to be rotated to stop corruption

In an effort to cleanup the current penal system, the Public Safety Secretariat is to introduce a rotation system among prison guards who preside over the three maximum high security prisons in Mexico. After the slaying of inmate Arturo Guzmán Loera brother of Sinaloa-based drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán at the La Palma detention center, questions of corruption and duplicity are plaguing the nations’s penal network. According to information obtained by EL UNIVERSAL, guards who operate at La Palma, Puente Grande and Matamoros prisons will be rotated to prevent any chain of dishonesty being set up among inmates and officers.
