Two Abu Sayyaf members were killed after the military engaged the group of bandit leader Isnilon Hapilon in a gun battle in Sultan Kudarat province on Thursday, a military official said. There were no casualties on the government side following the encounter in barangay (village) Lumitan, Palimbang town at around 4 p.m., Lieutenant General Alberto Braganza, Southern Command (SouthCom) chief, said. “Troops are still pursuing the bandits until this time,” Braganza said. Hapilon was sighted at the scene of the encounter by soldiers of the 601st Infantry Brigade, Braganza said.
