At least 8 Palestinians were killed and 24 wounded Friday in an Israeli Army raid near Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. The raid was intended to end days of mortar and rocket attacks from the town on Israeli troops and nearby settlements, the army said. At least five of the dead were militants linked to the Fatah faction, local medics and the army said. Five other Palestinians died and others were trapped when a tunnel they were digging collapsed because of heavy rain near the Egyptian crossing point of Rafah, in southern Gaza, Palestinians said. The tunnel, which was being dug between Rafah and an Israeli Army base, collapsed Thursday night, but residents said they discovered it only on Friday morning when they noticed a gaping hole.Full Story
