THREE of seven suspects charged in connection with the bomb attack in General Santos City that killed over a dozen people are members of the Abu Sayyaf bandit group, a military official said Thursday. But even as the bandits were suspects in the bombing, the military has not established if the Abu Sayyaf leadership ordered the attack, Lieutenant General Alberto Braganza, military Southern Command (SouthCom) chief, said in a telephone interview. “We captured Abu Sayyaf members but the direct link of the Abu Sayyaf to the bombing has yet to be proven,” Braganza said. “That is still the subject of our investigation.” Braganza said one of the suspects was a co-respondent in a kidnapping case filed against elusive Abu Sayyaf chieftain Khadaffy Janjalani.
