Even before an international human rights court rejected her last appeal, Lori Berenson a New Yorker convicted of collaborating with Marxist guerrillas in Peru, felt resigned to serving out the rest of her 20-year sentence. During a visitor’s day at Huacariz penitentiary in Peru’s northern Andes several weeks ago, Berenson said that as long as the government continues to associate her with terrorism, “I’ll be in prison for the next 11 years.” Full Story
