Honduran minister says gangs targeting nation's president
Criminal gangs want to kill Honduran President Ricardo Maduro, Security Minister Oscar Alvarez said Thursday, adding that he was also a target of the country’s youth gangs. Alvarez told the press that the Security Ministry has information indicating that gangs are “interested in carrying out an attack with rocket launchers, against either the president of the Republic or the security minister.” He denounced the alleged plot prior to leading a security operation – accompanied by the president – for the northern city of San Pedro Sula’s urban transport system.
