Two U.S. airstrikes destroyed several barricaded insurgent fighting positions in northeastern and southeastern Falluja early Thursday, the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force said. Airstrikes in Falluja have persisted amid talk of a possible all-out U.S. and Iraqi offensive against the Abu Musab al-Zarqawi terror network and other militants in the city. Interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi warned Sunday that he was getting closer to authorizing military action against the Falluja insurgents, unless local leaders agree to a peace deal and hand over militants to Iraqi authorities.Full Story
