Portuguese was key to freedom for kidnapped Brazilian man

A Brazilian man who was approached by a woman in a shopping center on Saturday was subsequently kidnapped by two men who demanded 4,000 pesos for his release. However, the victim’s nephew, helped by the Tlatelolco local police force, managed to secure his freedom without ransom. Pablo Pereira, 35, was out shopping at a mall at the corner of Eje Central and Manuel González when he was approached by Laura Menécez who offered to spend a night with him at a nearby hotel.
