The tense political climate in Nicaragua has reached the point where President Enrique Bolaños says he fears his political adversaries will kill him before he can complete his term of office because they cannot remove him legally. Bolaños told local television that his enemies in the Liberal Party and the leftist Sandinista National Liberation Front may resort to extreme measures to remove him from office. “If God gives me life, there’s no way they can remove me (from the presidency). Of course (my adversaries) can do anything. What’s more, they can send someone to kill me,” said Bolaños, who was elected to serve as president until 2007. Full Story
