The head of Nigeria’s main labour union threatened a nationwide strike and demonstrations if the country’s president did not lower fuel prices by Sunday, two weeks after a strike earlier this month crippled business throughout the country. Speaking after a meeting with union representatives on Tuesday, Nigeria Labour Congress leader Adams Oshiomhole said he would give President Olusegun Obasanjo until Sunday to reverse a 23% rise in fuel prices in September.
