A former U.S.-trained Colombian army officer who later joined an outlawed paramilitary group was killed in a clash with army troops Tuesday, the army said. Maj. David Hernandez, who was accused of murdering a state official while still in the army, became a leader of the right-wing United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia five years ago after he escaped from military prison. Hernandez and four other paramilitary fighters were killed in a clash with army troops in northern Colombia near the town of Mamon, 410 miles north of Bogota, said Col.
