Donors yesterday put the Government on notice – tackle corruption aggressively or we shall withhold funds. Donors have agreed to make fighting corruption a precondition for further lending and would readily lock out countries who do not agree, said one of Kenya’s key development partners. Norwegian prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevick stated: “We are ready to hold back support if concrete measures are not taken to root out corruption.” Speaking in the presence of five Cabinet ministers, Mr Bondevick said steps to stop corruption must be taken, no matter how painful.
