The trial for the 2002 murder of Spanish bullfighter Tomas Reyna began here Monday with the testimony of four public safety officers facing life behind bars for the crime. Roberto Quevedo was the first of the three sheriff’s deputies and one policeman from the Lima municipality of Miraflores to respond to questions posed by prosecutors. Quevedo said Reyna was “in a drug-addicted state and making problems” in Kennedy Park in Miraflores, site of an arts and crafts fair, when local residents called police on July 2, 2002. According to Quevedo, Reyna, 22, was lying down on the ground when he arrived and resisted arrest. Full Story
