Deal near to end Sadr City battle

Iraq’s interim government could be within days of reaching what a U.S. official calls a “breakthrough” deal to end fighting for control of Sadr City, a Shiite slum on the eastern outskirts of Baghdad. Sheikh Karim Bekhati, a negotiator for militant Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, also told CNN on Wednesday that top Iraqi interim government officials and al-Sadr representatives “have come close to reaching an agreement.” Full Story
