– At least 10 people were killed and seven wounded in a fresh bout of militant violence in India’s restive northeastern state of Assam.The attack took place around 7:00 pm (1330 GMT) in Jalabela village in west Assam’s Dhubri district, 280 kilometres (173 miles) west of the state’s main city Guwahati, Dhubri police chief R.L. Bishnoi told AFP.He said a group of six militants belonging to the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) descended on the village and began firing indiscriminately on a group of people waiting in the village square.
