Qassam rockets: Crude but fearsome

Qassam rockets are homemade weapons that have been fired in their hundreds at Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip and Jewish settlements within it. Qassam technology has been developed by the Hamas militant organisation during the four-year intifada to use against Israeli civilians and retaliate for deadly incursions and assassinations of its activists. They are crude, unguided two-metre-long steel weapons filled with explosives, that seldom do much damage but occasionally cause injuries. Full Story
