UN peacekeepers and Haitian police took up positions around the Haitian presidential residence after shots were fired in the capital and barricades of flaming tires were put up in streets.Tensions have been mounting in the country in recent weeks. Violence has increased with supporters of former president Jean Bertrand Aristide and rival followers of the rebels who forced him out of power putting pressure on the interim administration.
