The UPDF has said it intercepted orders instructing the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels to leave their bases in southern Sudan and return to their homes in northern Uganda. The UPDF Spokesman, Maj. Shaban Bantariza, told The Monitor on Monday the rebels had been ordered to resettle in their homes if they so wished. “They have orders to go to Uganda and those who wish can also go back to their homes,” Bantariza said by telephone. He did not say who issued the orders. He said a group of rebels was trying to re-enter Uganda on Monday. “About 30 rebels led by Okulu are trying to come back. They might already be in Uganda or they are still struggling to find their way in,” Bantariza said. Full Story
