Saudi Arabia announced plans to host an international conference on combating terrorism but said on Monday that all Middle East security efforts will fail if Israel clings to policies that are “totally incompatible” with the peace process. Nizar Obaid Madani, Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign minister, told world leaders and diplomats at the U.N. General Assembly’s ministerial meeting that the Feb. 5-8 conference is meant to “exchange information and experience” and foster cooperation in the fight against a “universal threat.” Attendees would study the structure of terrorist organizations and address ways to tackle money laundering and drug and arms smuggling.
