Ashcroft Urges Terror Vigilance Ahead of Election
U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft has urged federal prosecutors and law enforcement officials to keep up efforts to thwart a possible attack by al Qaeda in the weeks leading up to the November election. Ashcroft and Deputy Attorney General James Comey took the unusual step of holding a conference call with all 93 U.S. Attorneys last week for a “pep talk” to urge them not to let down their guard in light of a potential terror threat, a senior Justice Department official said on Thursday.
