The corruption that plagues Russia and its former Soviet neighbors will stifle investment and economic development unless more is done to combat it, the U.S. ambassador to Russia said Tuesday. Speaking at a Eurasian economic forum, U.S. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow also warned that without democratically functioning states, Central Asia could turn into a breeding ground for terror.
