A self-proclaimed member of Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda network claimed responsibility on Monday for last November’s suicide bomb attacks in Istanbul, NTV television reported.Another of nine suspects attending a court hearing in Turkey’s largest city said he once met bin Laden in Afghanistan, where he said he had received military training in a camp. “I am proud of being a member of al Qaeda,” NTV quoted Harun Ilhan as telling the court. “I am responsible for the (Istanbul) explosions along with Habib Aktas and Gurcan Bac,” the bearded Ilhan said, referring to two other Turkish Islamist militants.
