Authorities detained 205 people in overnight protests and clashes that left about 50 people injured on the anniversary of the military coup led by former dictator Gen. Augusto Pinochet, police reported Sunday. Those injured included 37 officers, two of whom were shot, police said. Another person injured was a masked demonstrator who suffered burns when he threw a Molotov bomb at police. Interior Minister José Miguel Insulza said the violence during the night “was indignant, much worse than we expected and those responsible will have to respond before the courts.” Full Story
