Gunmen abducted the U.S.-appointed deputy governor of Anbar province on Wednesday, relatives of the official said.
Several masked gunmen stormed the house of Bassem Mohammad Munajed in the town of Falluja and took him away around mid-morning, the relatives said. The mostly Sunni Muslim province of Anbar, west of Baghdad, contributed a sizeable proportion of members of the army and intelligence apparatus under President Saddam Hussein. Full Story
