A Chilean judge has set this Thursday as the day for questioning former dictator Augusto Pinochet about his role in the cross-border capture, torture and summary execution of leftists during the 1970s, judiciary sources said. Judge Juan Guzman rejected defense attorneys’ request for Pinochet to undergo a series of medical exams before the interrogation, ruling that they be carried out at a later date, according to the report. The judge also ordered Pinochet’s defense team and the military to inform the court – by noon Wednesday at the latest – where Pinochet would like to be questioned, noting that if no site is chosen, the questioning will take place in Pinochet’s home, located in an upscale neighborhood east of Santiago.
