Rebels Kill Two Officials in Colombia

Rebels killed a mayor and a former town council member after abducting them at a roadblock in eastern Colombia as they headed to a meeting on how to confront violence in the area, authorities said Saturday. Luis Zorro, mayor of Chamenza, a town 95 miles northeast of Bogota, the capital, and Siervo Plazas, a former councilman, were killed Friday by members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, or FARC, after the rebels pulled the two from their car, state officials said. Zorro’s son and others were traveling in the same car, and told authorities the rebels killed the men. Full Story
