Colombia’s government on Tuesday shrugged off warnings from Marxist rebels that a massive offensive is endangering the lives of dozens of hostages, including three Americans. “The (offensive) is putting the guerrillas themselves at risk,” Vice President Francisco Santos told reporters. Santos said the government had no plans to cease the operation, dubbed Plan Patriot, aimed at rooting out the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, from their southern jungle strongholds.
