Gunmen Fire On Voters In Venezuela

One person has been killed and 10 others wounded when a gunmen opened fire at polling booths in Venezuela. Hugo Chavez is facing an historic referendum that will either remove him from the presidency or keep him in office for two more years. The shooting happened at a voting booth near the capital Caracas. “What we know is that voters were in line and people opened fire from motorbikes,” fire chief Rodolfo Briceno said. There are fears that a close or contested outcome in the poll could trigger protests and disrupt the country’s oil supplies. Global oil prices are already at record highs, and if supply in the world’s number five oil exporter is stemmed, prices could go higher.
