Saudi Arabia, battling a wave of al Qaeda-linked violence, said its security forces shot dead a wanted militant in the holy city of Mecca on Wednesday after he threw a grenade at them. A policeman was lightly wounded in the clash, the Interior Ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
