Captured al Qaeda leaders have told U.S. interrogators that a Moroccan man facing a retrial in Germany over the Sept. 11 attacks was not aware of the plane hijack plans, a Hamburg court heard on Wednesday. The U.S. Department of Justice provided the court with summaries from interrogations of Ramzi bin al-Shaibah and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed which could help Mounir El Motassadeq, the only man to have been convicted over the 2001 attacks. Bin al-Shaibah told his interrogators that Motassadeq “had no knowledge of, and did not participate in any facets of the 11 September 2001 operational plan,” the documents said. Full Story
