The kidnappers of seven truck drivers abducted in Iraq have put forward a new demand, the Kuwait-based employer of the hostages told an Indian news channel, dimming hopes for their release. “Till yesterday we were very close” to securing the release, Rana Abu Zaineh, spokeswoman for the Kuwait Gulf Link Company, told the Indian news channel Aaj Tak. “But late night (Saturday) there was a new demand,” she said, declining to elaborate. “It is nothing related to our company.” “Nothing (is) sure till this minute, we are still discussing it,” she said, adding that the company was talking with negotiator Sheikh Hisham al-Dulaimi, an Iraqi tribal leader.
