Robberies at two military arsenals and the politically charged accusations about them, along with the wish expressed by an exiled former president that incumbent Hugo Chavez “die like a dog,” have fueled fears that violence may accompany an upcoming presidential recall referendum. The incidents have aggravated an already tense campaign for the Aug. 15 plebiscite that is to decide whether Chavez will have to step down.
