Marxist guerrillas freed a Roman Catholic bishop unharmed three days after his abduction sparked a global outcry and sent more than 1,000 soldiers into jungle-covered mountains to rescue him. Misael Vacca Ramirez, the Bishop of Yopal, said he was taken by members of the National Liberation Army, or ELN, because they wanted to give him a political message to deliver to the government. But he said he was never given the message after an army rescue operation cut his captors off from their commanders who had prepared the statement. Full Story
