A former army general won a plurality in Indonesia’s first direct-ballot presidential election, and will face incumbent Megawati Sukarnoputri in a September run-off, according to official results released Monday. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono took 33.5 percent of the vote in the July 5 polls, ahead of Megawati with 26.6, according to figures released by the election commission.
